Replacement American hickory handle from the Tennessee Hickory Handles factory. American hickory is dense, tough and a naturally shock absorbent, making it ideal for striking and cutting tool handles. The long fibers and unique cell structure of American hickory allow it to flex repeatedly and return to its original shape. It absorbs and dissipates shock before it reaches the user's hands. Handle comes with a varnish coating. Handle comes complete with wooden wedge for installation.Note: This handle is thicker than most double bit axe handles, and can take considerable time to install on smaller sized axe heads. Check measurements below before ordering.

To replace a wooden handle, first clean the eye thoroughly. Store the handle overnight in a warm, dry room to ensure dryness. Fit the new handle with a rasp or sandpaper. The handle should be driven tight into head. Drive the wooden wedge into the cut slot as deep as possible, and saw the extra wood (both the handle and the wedge) flush with the head.
