Top quality replacement hickory handle from Council Tools. Council has been making hand tools since 1886, and they set the standard for quality and design. Council handles are made from American hickory, which is known as the finest wood for hand tools. Each handle is kiln dried to 10% moisture content, to prevent shrinkage. Handle comes with a wax finish and includes an aluminum wedge for installation.

  • Overall Length: 28.0"
  • Eye Type: Single Bit Eye (Tear Drop)
  • Eye Length: 2.0"
  • Eye Width: 0.65" (5/8")
  • Common Fitment: Single Bit Boy's Axe

Important Handle Information: All measurements above are approximate, and can vary slightly from handle to handle, as wood shrinks and swells due to grain structure, moisture content and humidity. Axe handle manufacturing produces a wide variety of handles with different grain patterns and colors. We only offer premium grade handles from top manufacturers, but each wooden handle is a unique product, which will perform in it's own unique way.

Handle Replacement Instructions: To replace a wooden handle, first clean the eye thoroughly. Store the handle overnight in a warm, dry room to ensure dryness. Fit the new handle with a rasp or sandpaper. The handle should be driven tight into head. Saw the handle flush with the head, then drive the aluminum wedge in flush with the head.
