The Hudson Bay axe head pattern is believed to have originated in the Biscayan area of Northern Spain and was first used in North America as a trading piece along the fur trade routes of Canada, hence the name. The Hudson Bay axe is a shape and size ideal for any camping, hunting or hiking expedition. This axe comes with an American Hickory handle, which is short enough to carry easily in the woods, but long enough to give you decent swinging power. Axe head is honed to a razor edge. Grade A hickory handle come with a linseed oil finish and is dried below 10% moisture content during installation to minimize shrinkage and loosening.
