The Michigan double bit axe has been an icon of the forest products industry for over a century, and the double bit axe is perfect for most chopping and felling duties. The axe head design originates from the state of Michigan, hence the name. The Classic Michigan axe head features lugs or ears that increase the surface contact area with the handle. Phantom bevels or hallows are designed to reduce sticking and burst wood chips. The axe head is drop forged and tempered to Rc 48-55 which exceeds ANSI standards, and sealed with clear lacquer to deter rust. This axe comes with a straight 36" American Hickory handle, which will give you substantial swinging power.
