Getting a hold of logs isn't just a grab and go. Yet with this lifting pick you can maneuver smaller logs into place or even use it like an extra hand on longer logs. We all need that extra reach when using a splitter and having to grab for another round. This aluminum pick is ergonomic and lightweight. The sharp tip digs into the wood easily. If you are out in the winter the back head of the pick can dig notches for a better grip in frozen wood. The handle has a no-slip grip and a lanyard hole on the end for hanging up in the wood shed at the end of the day. There is also a "stop end" to assist you when wrangling stubborn wood.

Fails compared to log rite

I purchased both Oregon and Log Rite hookeroon's to use for hand piling and firewood gathering. I like the handle on Oregon's pick, other then that it is flimsy and bounces of the wood as often as it hooks and penetrates. The Log Rite is half the price, sturdy and requires little effort to pick a log. The Log Rite has one flaw that the handle is round and requires that user index's the pick end when making swings.

A must have for firewood and tree service work

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this tool. It is so lightweight I was fearful it would be flimsy. It is tough and very handy while processing firewood. I have used it to move around 300-400 pound hickory log pieces. The other thing I haven't figured out yet is how the physics of this thing works. Some how it makes moving around very heavy logs manageable. I use it to move logs around on the ground to get them to the log lift on my splitter. I also use it to pull logs from the log lift over into the splitting area of the splitting wedge. I use a Timberwolf TW-7 log splitter. I am considering purchasing a second log pick - one for the person preping the logs for the log lift and one for the person doing the splitting. I also use it when doing tree work. The tip bites into the logs and I can manuever them on the ground without having to bend over and pick them up. It is also great for rolling logs on the ground - once again, no bending over and no back strain. I would suggest the longer one. You can use it in all situations, whereas the shorter one would be when the wood is very nearby and likely elevated. I have been using it for 6 months now and am extremely happy with it.
