Fiskars Super Splitting Axe 28" Handle

This unique splitting axe that we want to call it a maul too. This bare-knuckle brawler packs a brutish 4 lb. head that knocks sense in to the thickest hard maple. But don't let that lull you into thinking this tool hasn't been intelligently designed or smartly constructed. The unique wedge-shaped blade is for easier, faster splitting than you have enjoyed before. For greater strength and durability there is a drop-forged steel blade that has non-stick coating and cuts with less effort. Insert-molded design prevents blade from loosening or separating from the handle. Fiskars' FiberComp construction-reinforced fiberglass composite materials provide strength, durability and lighter weight.

Note: Includes sheath for safe storage and transportation.

I was a little skeptical at first seeing how light this thing was compared to a traditional splitting maul that I have been using. The old maul will be collecting a lot of dust now that I have this great little tool. This splitting axe will split dry wood with just one effortless swing. The only reason that I did not give this splitting axe 5 stars is because it could use a longer handle. You do have to be careful with this shorter handle. Not a deal breaker though unless of course you hit you shin with it.

Super Splitting - Super indeed

Got one (actually 2) for Christmas. Like others say, if I had had this 35 years ago I might still be in the firewood business. I don't know how or why it works so well but it sure does. It's not so much that it splits wood (lots of things do) but rather the wood sees it and just capitulates and splits itself. At least it seems that way to me. I'm 6'3" and thought it might be short but decided to try one when I read a review by a guy an inch taller. Trust me, it's just fine. Get one (or two).

I have tried a number of axes and this one definitely works good. I tried splitting various kinds of wood and could not find a wood that it wouldn't go through. It is a great product. I would definitely say anybody looking for a good splitting axe should bye one of these.

Best Splitting Tool EVER!

Hands down, this is the best splitting tool I've ever owned!! Been splitting wood for 25+ years. Can't believe how easily this thing busts through wood! On the rare occasion where the first whack doesn't split it, the head never gets stuck and one more whack does the job. I just blew through a couple cords of oak, black locust, and even elm with the Fiskars Super Splitting Axe --it was unstoppable! I still have the same 8lb maul that I've used for 25 years, but it just sits there now, kinda sad.....I've let a few friends use my Fiskars Super Splitting Axe and after splitting a few rounds they always ask the same question: "how much and where can I get one?" To make splitting even easier, I bought a pulp hook from Baileys and I use an old tire on top of my splitting block. Pick up the round with the pulp hook, put it inside the tire, 4 quick whacks and throw the splits on the pile and get the next round--no bending over!! Get the Fiskars Super Splitting Axe -- you won't believe what a great tool this is until you try it, and I know you won't be disappointed!

Great splitter

I own a half dozen splitters, we use them at home and on the job to split wood for elderly clients and assist in busting up stumps when the stumper isn't available. The Fiskars are very light to use but really bust into the wood and don't stick. But best of all they are bombproof. Incredibly strongly made, we have had one in our main work truck for 2 years and aside from needing the odd sharpening it's been faultless. Busts blocks with the power of a splitter with 50% more weight. The only things I would do to improve it would be to put on a longer handle and make the head a bit heavier.
