The heel if definitely high enough for spurs. Many use this boot to climb, although it's not advertised as such. Our climbing boots all have a similar heel with the addition of extra features.

The sizes on our Red Dawg boots run true to the corresponding shoe die. Compared to some brands that don't run true they can run larger.

I have purchased 3 pairs of these boots for myself and two employees. My pair had the stitching start to separate within 2 months. Now, 5 months later, stitching has separated in 4 different places and the sole is breaking apart. My climber's boots lasted about 12 months before his soles started to break apart and now the stitching is coming apart everywhere. The money we saved on my climber's boots buy not purchasing Wesco's was not worth the short life he got out of them. And the extra money I spent on my pair was a far cry from the life I could get out of a pair for half the money. I will not purchase Red Dawg again.

I have to say these are the best boots I have ever owned. I bought these boots when I worked for the Kentucky division of Forestry. I had 4 years worth of fire line work on these. Now that I dont do wild fires anymore I still wear them for my job as a welder and when doing tree work here and there. I also have owned a pair of much more expensive "Smoke Jumpers" and found these Red Dawg boots to be as or more comfortable.

I have purchased two pair of these boots in the last 6 years and I am still wearing them both. They are showing lots of wear on them by now but they have lasted very well. I'm a Land Surveyor and alot of my work here in western Oregon is in mountainous country with lots of hike miles in very rough terrain. Great boots! I won't buy anything else. I use Hubbards boot grease on them and warm them in the evenings on a boot dryer to help the grease soak in. This doesn't waterproof them but help repel the water and also makes them pliable and easy on the feet.

These boots are great. I've owned several pairs of boots and these are by far the best boots I've owned for the money.
