2-3/8" Timberframer's Slick

This broad chisel is used by timberframers to level off hand-hewn surfaces, to clean up sides of large mortises, and other paring jobs. The 2-3/8" blade is hand-forged from solid high-carbon steel tapered from socket to edge, with a convex top surface for extra strength. The bottom surface is ground with a slight forward bevel. The hardwood handle is designed for the proper grip for shoulder and arm motion when using the tool. Handle assembly and honing required before use. Overall assembled length is 28". Instructions included. Use a Mill Bastard file to maintain edge.

Timberframing Slick

Great price on the slick. I bought two and put them to use right off. They are sharp right out of the box. On the down side, one slick had a crack in the weld between the socket and the blade an will need to be rewelded and the handle broke right off the bat. Plan on making yourself a new handle out of better quality material. You get what you pay for.

Awesome blade

This timber slick is worth its money. Easy to sharpen, holds an edge really well. Unfortunately the handle inst of the same quality as the blade. I worked with it for a few days and the handle is showing wear. And don't pry with it since the handle will break. I think a fiberglass handle would work best for this tool..

The steel used on this chisel is fantastic. It is very easy to get extremely sharp and holds an edge very well. The only down side that I found was when I let an new employee use it and he tried prying a piece of wood out and broke the handle. These tools are not meant to be a pry bar in the first place so don't use them as one. However I was shocked to see that the relatively small piece that he was prying out broke the handle. All in all I am very happy with it though.
