Premium Rockman Lumberjack System

So you been told you have a hard head? Don't trust it to chance though. The Rockman Lumberjack System has the latest in safety technology. The energy absorbing shape is based on the principles used in Formula 1 car production, in which the rigid yet flexible cage absorbs significant amounts of impact energy by partial deformation. Lighter weight and greater comfort is the side benefits of this new design. Ventilation which does circulate fresher air. With the ventilation holes at the top of the helmet shell they expel hot air where it gathers and draw in cool air from below. The unique shape of the crown on the Rockman shell allows this to happen more effectively than with traditional helmets. This model also features the sun peak and wire mesh screen. Scratch resistant roughened matt finish to protect the helmet surface when stored upside down.
Integral rain channel and 30mm accessory slot to accommodate helmet mounted accessories.
Inbuilt ring of fittings which eliminate any possibility of sharp edges coming into contact with the head in the case of off center impact.
Conventional harnesses have no equivalent to the DeFormaTec system. The DeFormaTec suspension actually absorbs shock, keeping it away from your head. 12 DeFormatec connectors are spaced evenly around the helmet's interior to ensure that the system works before the impact can reach the wearer's head, even if it strikes off center. (It is recommended to replace the suspension and/or helmet with serious impact.)
ABS shell was shock absorption tested at -30° +90°, following water immersion and artificial aging as well as resistance to penetration test under above mentioned conditions

Q.	What is the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) on the earmuffs on this helmet. Is the mesh screen made of Plastic or is it steel wire mesh?
A.	The noise Reduction Rating is 24dB. The screen comes standard wire mesh. - updated 4/5/12. The nylon replacement screen is 4100N and be purchased separately.

Q.	Are replacement ear muffs available or will the Peltor muffs work? Also, is the helmet only available in orange?
A.	Replacements will be available. The Peltors will not work with these.

Q.	Whats the difference between the Rockman premium and regular?
A.	The main difference is the premium has a 6 point suspension and the ear muffs have a higher dB rating. The regular has a 4 point suspension. Furthermore, the premium comes with ABS shell instead of PE, carrier with sun peak and wire mesh visor instead of nylon.

Disappointing

I have used Peltor Lumberjack helmets for 25 years. When I wore out my most recent one I ordered another. It was of considerably lower quality than previous ones, so I decided to try the Rockman Premium. The first day, after flipping the earmuffs up and down a few times I no longer had any tension against one ear. The muff was floating and no longer providing any noise protection. Upon inspection I discovered a thin piece of plastic that was supposed to maintain the tension against the internal steel ring had broken. I can't recommend this helmet to even the occasional user since I only got a few hours out of it. Now that I have to ship this back to Baileys, I'm curious to see how my shipping charges compare to the $14.99 they charged to ship it to me. I don't mind paying for quality, if I can find it. For now I'm going to try to find somebody that has an older style Peltor in stock.

Rockman Premium ***** !

Fit and finish are top shelf and the latest in safety technology. I have nothing to compare this premium Rockman to. I guess I've been lucky for 45 years of wood cutting with a ball cap and leather gloves. The reason I gave it 5 stars : Assembly was easy . Comfortable to wear and fit my big head. The visor and muffs flip up and down as they should.. It should keep the wood chips out of my eyes and ears !!!

Great System

I have to say that I love this helmet. it isn't perfect, but it's as close as your going to get I think. The mesh screen plastic molding wasn't cleaned up after molding and had some burs that made it a tiny bit irksome snapping into place, but it stays once in. The fit is great and the strap works great. The face shield goes up and stays there when wanted and the ear muffs do likewise in a firm positive manner. Over all just what I was looking for.

1. The Rockman Climbing Helmet F6ADORGK comes with the same helmet as the PREMIUM system does, but, instead, it is combined with chin strap 2. All ROCKMAN accessories (ear muffs, visors, carriers, chin straps etc.) fit the F6ADORGK. 3. The chin strap also fits the PREMIUM system. 4. The 6 point ratchet suspension is the same as in the PREMIUM.

The best of the best

I've had the Rockman helmet for 2 years now and it's still the one I reach for when I'm going cutting. I actually did a 'head' on comparison between the Rockman Premium helmet and four other helmets from the leading helmet manufacturers, including two from the top two chainsaw mfg's. While all were good, the Rockman stood out as the best of the best. It's comfortable to wear all day, even in the heat of summer, (I like the vents), and it doesn't fall off when I'm leaning over logs to set a choker, even if I'm upside down. The Rockman Premium Helmet gets a solid 5 stars. If I could, I'd give it 6. Mike Keeney Mike The Firewood Guy

Cheap 6-point system

I have had my Rockman helmet for several months now and have not been too disappointed, until now. While climbing a tree, I tried to cinch the back-of-the-neck strap a little tighter. The bloody thing fell apart! We finally found the small black gear that drives the 2 ends, and we finally figured out how to snap it back together, but then once again, 15 feet off the ground, the gear slipped. This time my prescription glasses came off and ended up on the ground! Ground crew passed them back up to me, but I was pretty p*ssed by then. If a helmet can't stay on the head properly, it should not be sold as safety gear. I bought the Rockman because Rockman was saying it was good for Arborists. When I'm going up and looking up at how the trunk and branches are shaping up, I expect the helmet to maybe need a tad more grip than if I'm on the ground looking down at a trunk limbing it. Rockman FAILS. I don't want to come back down out of a tree just because the stupid helmet suspension is built too thin, too weak, in a cheap snap-together lego toy fashion. I should have just saved up for a few more months and bought a Petzl.

Rockman Helmet

This is my first helmet so I dont have a lot to compare it too. Besides some leather gloves and pair of work boots I never used to wear any safety equipment. I'm slowly changing my ways and really do like this helmet. Having the ear muffs after a long day of sawing is well worth it, especially if you have opened up the muffler on your saw. I also really like the face screen. It would always happen atleast one or two times a day I'd get a mouthfull of sawdust, no more. And unlike a solid shield air will still pass through to keep you cool. I leave the screen down also when I am carrying the wood to the truck, I've had branches thwack it a few times, which would have otherwise been to the face. Only reason I dinged it by 1 star is because I think they could have used some metal in the parts, feels like something eventually may break, but this is minor really. I'd have given it 4.5 stars if I could.

Second Review

Now that I have used the helmet some more I think it's time for a second review. Shortly after the first review I found that I could--with a little persuasion--get the one ear muff to go up against the helmet. Since then I have not had a problem with it going up. Once in a while it is a little stiff but that's it. It evidently just needed to be broken in. The ear muff arms are lose enough now that I can easily move the muffs to wherever they are comfortable. Now that I have bolts in the screen arms I have to push it the whole way up. However, it stays put, and that is not a problem. A friend of mine recently needed a new helmet. I told him what I had experienced with my Rockman. We both did some checking on other helmets and concluded that, despite the things in the first review, the Rockman is by far the best helmet out there. He ordered a premium Rockman.

Three and a half stars

I have to say that the Rockman is the best helmet I have used. There are a few things that I would have liked to have known previously though. The head band seemed to sit on my forehead a different place than what I was accustomed to, however I soon got used to that. My main complaint--if I can call it that--is the fact that the spring mechanism for holding the face screen up is made out of plastic. It wasn't long before the seams started to separate. I fixed them by drilling the plastic pins out and putting a small bolt through it. It takes a little bit to get both sides of the ear muffs into the same notch in the arm, and they do not stay put very well. However, not having them in the same notches from side to side doesn't bother me at all. One of the ear muff arms doesn't want to swing back and up against the helmet so I just leave them down all the time. I realize that I am being rather picky here. I really like having the holes in the top to draw out hot air. I can sure tell a difference from my old helmet. It just takes a slight push for the face screen to pop up. Overall it is a good helmet. It definitely stays put no matter what position I'm in. It may have the latest safety technology, but it needs a few metal parts. I would probably buy another one.
