WoodlandPro 20NK Chainsaw Chain (Per Drive Link)

WoodlandPro 20NK is designed to fit the latest line of high RPM saws. This chain is designed to run exclusively on narrow kerf bars. This bar and chain combination cuts a smaller kerf, therefore giving your saws more horsepower to cut with. The newly designed cutter makes fast work of both hardwoods and softwoods, yet stays sharp longer that standard chisel chain in dirty conditions. Chain is .325 pitch, .050 gauge, semi-chisel. 20NK will fit saws using Oregon 95VP series and Husqvarna H30 chains. 20NK will not perform well unless matched with a narrow kerf bar. 20NK chain sharpens with a 3/16" round file or 1/8" grinding wheel. Chain manufactured in the U.S.A. by Carlton.

Q.	Does the 20nk chain get sharpened flat (level), or with your hand down 5 or 10 degrees like most chisel chain? I know the 20nk is semi-chisel. I just filed mine, kept my hand flat, but it's not cutting as well as I'd like.
A.	You are correct to hold the file flat (no angle). If you are using a 3/16" file only about 20% - 25% of the file should be above the tooth. If any more than that is above the tooth you'll get a blunt edge. If more than 1/3 of the chain has been used, the depth gauges may need to be taken down.

Q.	Do you have the Carlton File O Plate tool for all of the WoodsmanPro chain you sell, or is it available through Baileys?
A.	Carlton does offer File O Plates not listed on our website. Please give us a call with the chain specs and we can check with Carlton on a special order and an ETA.

Q.	Just got a oregon 511ax and checked a brand new 20nk chain on it. got 55 degrees for left hand cutters and 60 degrees right hand cutters(head tilt).. also got 30 degree top plate angle. specs call for 60 degree and 35 degree. somewhere i came up with a 3/16 grinding wheel and see you list a 1/8 grinding wheel for this chain. wondering if 1/8 is the right wheel to use, or if indeed it is 3/16 ? I just started using some of this chain instyead of the rc20. not sure yet which one is better for my purposes. cutting a lot of hardwood firewood.
A.	It is sometimes confusing to folks. This chain takes a 3/16" round file, but a 1/8" grinding wheel. 3/16" wheel is intended for the large 3/8" pitch chain.

Q.	What is the actual cut width with the 20NK versus the standard .325?
A.	That can vary quite a bit depending on how it's sharpened, the condition of the bar used, and the wood being cut. If you consider that the chains are at stock angles, and the bars are new, the standard .325 kerf would be about 5/16", and the NK would be about a 1/4".
