Oregon Chain Grinder with Hydraulic Assist

Sharpen your saw chain just like the saw shop. This Italian made grinder is built on the popular 511AX chassis, but it has the added feature of a hydraulic chain clamping feature. A hydraulic piston compresses the chain vice automatically (the 511AX has to be clamped manually) every time the motor is lowered. This can speed the chain grinding process substantially. Grinds all size chains except 3/4" pitch harvester chain. Easily mounts to a work bench. A tripod grinder stand is also available separately, which allows for eye level grinding. Comes complete with 3 wheels (1/8", 3/16" and 1/4"), a dressing brick and wheel template. Minor assembly required.

A.	If you define "chisel" as a cutter with a flat top and flat side that uses a round file to sharpen, then it will sharpen all chisel chain on the market. If by "chisel" you mean the same cutter described above that uses a double bevel or 3 corner file to sharpen, then no, there are only a few Silvey grinders that do what we call "square chisel". Q.	When sharpening chain which way does head tilt go, 10 degrees forward or backward?
A.	When you install a new chain to sharpen, and bring the grinding wheel down into the gullet of the chain, the contact of the the grinding wheel should be just to the rear of the bottom of the grinding wheel. As the wheel wears you will need to adjust.

Q.	Hello, is there a 220/2240 volt option and can the polarity/disk rotation be reversed for left and right grinding (if you get my drift)? Thanks.
A.	Any competent electrician could build one but hardly worth it money wise.

Q.	I would like to be able to sharpen saw chain with tungsten carbide teeth. Is there a diamond wheel for this model that will allow me to sharpen carbide chain?
A.	That's a good question. The recommended wheel would be 45516. It is a bit smaller than the conventional grit wheels, but the arbor is the same.

Q.	Does the product come with a warranty?
A.	Oregon warranty's all its products against manufacturer defects etc. as long as the original user owns the product. However normal wear and tear is not covered.

I got the grinder, unpacked it and set it up. It is very fast at grinding chains once you get the angles set. This is a great grinder, the only things I would add or change would be to have the chain angles for other chains manufactures (Stihl) then Oregon listed in the book. And it would be nice if there was someway to hold the motor shaft still while trying to change the wheel. It isnt so bad when changing the wheels but when you get the machine, there is no wheel on it and you have to take some of the shelds apart and hold the motor shaft with a pair of pliers to loosen the bolt that holds on the wheel.
