The log claw doesn't have posted weight limits. If you can stuff 100lbs of log within 24" we still cannot recommend it for everyone. It would be what you can comfortably lift.

The 24" log claw won't properly hold the smaller 16" log. The hooks have to bite in with the tension of the log holding. You will need to buy the 16" log claw for your shorter firewood.

I have the 16" log claw. When it works, it works great. It can pick up large rounds easily. I've found, however that the tips have trouble gripping some of my hardwood rounds. It works fairly well when the hardwood rounds are relatively freshly cut, but once they've dried out a bit, it tends to slip off the log. I've not yet tried sharpening the points, since they still feel rather sharp, and I've only used them on a few occasions. I still gave this four stars -- I'm hopeful that sharpening will cure the slipping problems I had. One tip: I've found that storing this bent in a "C" shape or in a loop rather than laid out flat helps in placing the ends on a 16" log without having to manually position the points. If the tool does get straightened out too much, you can usually get it back into proper shape by flexing it into a tighter bow a few times.

Bought these wondering if they were all they were cracked up to be... believe me they are! I bought a pair and now you can carry twice as much wood and you don't have to strain your back leaning all the way to ground. Great product and will probably end up with a couple more pair for my wife to use when we cut!

Worked great. Picks up 22" blocks with one hand that would nomally take bending and picking with both hands. Would recommend.
