Recently I had bought one of these kits and installed it on the saw, and I had done all the leak down tests, tached at 12,000 revs to be safe. The saw made one tank of gas and was scored. The question is are there a lot of failures with this kit or any blemishes come up? Is it possible for me to get a new kit? Please get back to me. Thanks.

Only the 670 OEM kit is available at this time, item # 503 17 29 04. We do sell aftermarket Pistons for the 670, both the PKS 268 or the MPA PC1314B will work.

Although the crankcase for the Husky 254 257 261 & 262 are the same they all take a different intake systems. So this item will not bolt on without other modifications.

Does this cylinder have "tunnel" or "closed" porting like all Husqvarna XP models (262XP)? Or does it have "scavenger" or "open" porting like the non-xp models (261)? Also, who is the manufacturer of this kit?

Yes, the ports are closed. The are made by NKB.

I need to replace the cylinder kit on my 261 Husqvarna chain saw. I saw the FAQ that said the cyl. kit for the 262 would fit the 261. I have been comparing Husqvarna part number for both and the number for the cyl. kit and the gasket are different between the two saws. What is the difference since they have different numbers? Thanks Marlin

The 261 and 262 use the exact same cylinder except the 262 has a flat top piston while the 261 used a dished piston. If you are comparing part numbers from the IPL's please note that the numbers are in constant flux, but the actual IPL is fixed and you will not see the part number changes in most ca

The 261 and 262 use the exact same cylinder except the 262 has a flat top piston while the 261 used a dished piston. If you are comparing part numbers from the IPL's please note that the numbers are in constant flux, but the actual IPL is fixed and you will not see the part number changes in most cases. Putting the 262 cylinder on the 261 does not make it a 262 saw. You would also need the 262 muffler and clutch to get the same performance as the 262. (Hide full answer) |

Greetings - The 254 & 257 have the same crankcase as the 261 & 262 but the intake assembly is different, so you would need to modify the intake.
