Still like the peltor

I have had a couple of these in the last 4 years. Saved me a couple times. This helmet does have a weak spot on the slot where the earmuffs clamp in, the last one broke there. I have had no other problems with it. The main reason I like this unit is that you can use the worktunes earmuffs on these so you can have a radio or mp3. The price is same as husquvarna system and I find them much more comfortable.

Peltor-Not So Good

I make no bones about the brutality with which I use my equipment,I did NOT purchase my Peltor from Bailey,but i will be buying my next Rockman from them. My Peltor is held together with no less than 2 tubes of G_ _P,which has contributed considerably to it lasting the past two years. DON'T buy one spend the extra cash for the Quality

Major disappointment

This is NOT the Peltor system from the past. The older Peltor had a cutout in the hat where the earmuffs would clear it and easily snap down. Not this new one, so the muffs hang on the edge of the hat. Can be a real pain to work with. Definitely not worth the hassle. According to Bailey's, "Peltor has now sent them overseas to be made."

I purchased a Peltor complete lumberjack series hard hat recently to replace the one I wore for a good seven years. I was sorely disappointed when I opened the box. It seems Peltor decided to cut corners, save money or just be cheap- probably a combination of all three.
The first big disappointment was in the helmet. My old one, of the same maker, was thicker and better constructed. This new one was thinner, the seams were ragged and all the fittings were very flimsy plastic. It made me nervous thinking this thin piece of plastic was supposed to save me in the event of a hard hit from above.
The other disappointing feature was the way in which the face shield and hearing protectors attached. The shield connecting pieces I could tell were going to fail in no time at all, and the hearing protectors were nearly impossible to move around, very uncomfortable.
The trumpeted 6 point ratcheting system seemed good, until I tried to adjust it to my head and promptly stripped the ratcheting gears inside the unit.
Overall it seems this unit is just another crummy piece of plastic, which is a shame because my older one is rugged, sturdy and has never failed me- even when getting a good knock on the noggin it performed remarkably. It is dismaying Peltor has started producing such junk!

Peltor hat

I had one of those hat and wore it for 7 year and had no problem out of it. It was the most comfortable hardhats that I ever have worn.

I have had it with this junk. The flip up face screen takes several tries to stay down and the flimsy plastic that the metal shaft on the ear muffs fits into is very cheap and broke almost immediately, despite my being careful with my equipment. When I cut, I want to focus on the saw and the wood and not be distracted by monkeying with a shamelessly cheap piece of junk like this. I am ordering the Rockman system. It is more expensive, but one accident avoided from the distraction of this Peltor junk will be well worth it. Besides, time is money and I am wasting too much time trying to jury rig the poor quality and design of the peltor system.

Helmet tab fracture

Currently purchasing new helmet, tab for holding screen and ear protection fractured 2 days after received it. Tried to glue it etc. Only solution buy a new helmet. Hopefully it was just a fluke but from other posting, concern it is a design flaw.

For the price I paid for the complete rigging I'd expect better; the slot on the helmet where the ear protectors go, has cracked. (Have to buy another helmet) The "mushroom pin" on the neck shield has failed; could this be planned obsolesce on Peltor's part???? And the helmet set still increases in price!!!
