SenDEC STS-5000 Shop Tachometer

SenDEC's shop tach is a high RPM maintenance meter. This tachometer reads up to 16,000 RPM, has maximum RPM recall and clear functions and can be programmed for up to 3 different firing patterns. This patented meter uses one simple push button to access all of these functions. Comes with screw mounting holes if you wish to attach the tachometer to a permanent surface. It can also be used without the wire. Just hold it in proximity to the spark plug without touching anything.

A.	Sorry, it wouldn't work for that purpose because it counts sparks. Sendec is the manufacturer. They do make a tach that use a target that can be attatched to any rotating shaft.

A.	It's battery powered. The battery is not replaceable. We've had a couple in our shop for 8 - 10 years with no issues.

A.	Yes, it will work on 2 or 4 cycle, and one or 2 cylinder engines. There are settings to adjust for the # of cylinders.

Q.	How do you hook up the SenDec STS-5000 Shop Tachometer and will it work on 2 cycle(4cyl) OUTBOARD engines?
A.	It's made for 2 cycle, and 4 cycle. Single, and twin cylinder engines. These tachs read sparks. So with some math, you can calculate the rpm's for anything that produces a spark. It can either be held close to the spark plug, or use the included wire and clip to hook directly to the spark plug wire.

A.	Yes, it will work on your saws.

Q.	I would like to purchase your Tach. You mentioned it would work with 4 stroke, 2 cylinders. You also mentioned that some math would be involved. Are the formulas included in the manual? Where would I find the proper math formula? I wish to use this tach to set proper RPM idle speeds on motorcycles.
A.	For two and four cylinder engines there is a mode button you set on it and it reads the radio signal from your plugs.
