Peavy Mfg 4-1/2' Peavey

Peavey Mfg has been making quality logging tools in Maine for over 150 years. The peavey is indispensable for handling logs and poles as well as cants and beams. The Peavey is similar to a cant hook except it has a pointed spike at the working end. The spike allows you to move larger diameter logs than a similar sized cant hook. The spike can also be used to pry and push logs around. The peavey comes with 2-3/8" diameter hardwood handle. The steel hook is a western duckbill design.

Q.	Can I get just the steel head (hook and point) for the peavey? I have a new replacement handle, so I don't really need the extra wood. Steve
A.	Greetings - They sell just the point and the hook but not the peavey head as a unit. If you search "Peavey" all the parts we sell will come up.

Q.	What determines the width capacity of this tool? Can all peaveys or cant hooks turn a 26" log?
A.	I'd say they would handily take care of a 26" log by the jaw opening. I watched one of the guys here turn a good 36" log as he got a decent bite into it with the point. It doesn't have to encompass the log, in fact that isn't the idea, rather its the bite that is better when its past the bark.
