I debated whether to get a pair of chaps, but I am sure glad I did. While cutting a tree on Memorial Day Weekend (2011) the chainsaw hit another part of the tree and kickback occurred. The saw still running hit the chaps and the chaps stopped the saw before much damage was done to my lower leg. I had to have 7 stitches but without the chaps I don't know what damage would have been done. I need to order another pair and I will before I use the chainsaw again. Another clothing article you should consider would be chainsaw boots. If I had been wearing them I'm sure the saw would not have penetrated the boot/chaps. These were the first chaps I have purchased but I liked the fit and the durability of the material. The price is excellent for the safety it provides. Don't use a chainsaw without this protection.
