Will the Woodsman Carver 12" dime tip carving bar work on a Echo 306 chainsaw? I'm not sure what chain I need, or sprocket...and does it require any special tools to install? If so, do you sell these tools? Thanks.

To convert your saw you'll need: a 12500 Bar, a WPL 12 10SC63 Chain loop, a CRD K8N Sprocket, a 31116 Clutch Tool, and a 10615 Piston Stop.

The 12500 is the correct bar. You will also need: a 537 32 60 02 (RIM & DRUM), a CSR 14 rim sprocket, a WCL 12 10SC63 12" Carving Loop. As far as what makes a good carving saw, it's really an individual's preference. It has to feel right in the operators hands.

Yes, the bar will fit. You'll need to purchase a CRD S8N sprocket, and some carving chain.

The bar would fit but there is no 1/4" pitch sprocket made for that saw. If you carve with the standard picco chain then the bar life is very short and warranty is voided.

Besides this bar you would need the CRD H8N (1/4" pitch rim & drum) and 65 drive links of the 10SC chain.

What is smallest gauge chain you can use with this bar?

The gauge of this bar is .050, so any chain you use with it should be the same. It's highly recommended to use the 1/4" pitch WP14 10SC chain because any other chain doesn't turn well on the small radius of the tip, which causes premature wear and voids warranty.

The smallest chain on the market is 1/4" pitch (.025). After that .325 is second, .375 is 3rd, and .404 is the largest saw chain pitch in today's market.

Very happy with the bar. Good for small details while carving, looks like it will fit on almost any saw with out any problem, overall I am very happy.
