Q.	How consistent is this grinder? I'd love to have a 12V grinder in one of the trucks for touching up rocked chain, but don't want something that's gonna throw off the top plate angles.
A.	It is precise once set up correctly, and adjusted on the bar if it shifts. It is not made for very small saws as the weight will tip the saw over. It is the only wheel style grinder that works in the woods, which is where it is made to be used.

Q.	I AM USING A STHIL 310 WITH A 20 IN BAR IS THIS SAW TO SMALL FOR THIS GRINDER? THANKS TOM LEE
A.	No, this grinder will work fine. You can stabilize the bar with our stump vise - #15246.

Q.	Will this grinder adjust for the 10 degree down angle for chisel chain?
A.	Sorry, this bar mounted grinder won't adjust to that angle.

Decent for in the woods

It will certainly grind chain, but its tough to keep things truly consistent. The way it mounts to the bar rail is a bit weak, and doesn't hold there well. Its excellent for grinding rocked out chains in the woods, or at a job site, but don't expect it to handle your entire set of chains. We keep it on a truck and if we rock a chain or hit steel or whatever we throw it on and get it back to where it should be. Takes about 5-10 minutes per chain depending on how bad the chain is. The bench mounted grinder is much more precise and consistent, but since it can't be taken with you its only helpful after you're done for the day. To sum it up, if you work in the woods, or away from your shop, and like to keep chains sharp without having to constantly swap, its a great tool.
