Wetterlings Competition Throwing Axe with 30" Handle

Axe throwing has become a popular outdoor sport all over North America. It is easy to set up, and great fun for the competitors and crowd alike. The story goes that lumberjacks used to play with their double bit axes during break. Now axe-throwing competitions are held all over the world and it is a popular recreation. This 6 inch wide, thin axe blade axe is designed to stick in the target and is lighter than most for greater accuracy. A quality axe head and handle are critical for accurate throwing as well as safety. Because of this, we reached out to Wetterlings, a Swedish axe manufacturer with over a century of experience when we wanted to re-design our competition throwing axe. Wetterlings has been hand forging axes in Sweden since 1882, and their tools are of the highest quality available. This new axe meets all of the competition standards and features full 6-inch precision ground edges. The material is Swedish Carbon Steel. It's hammer wrought by hand and the heat treatment process creates a metal with excellent tenacity. The axe has an American Hickory handle with a steel roll pin fitted through the center of the head for safety. To slowly hand forge an axe takes true craftsmanship and decades to learn the craft to perfection. The process starts with first-rate Swedish carbon steel being slowly forged by skilled Wetterlings blacksmiths. Wetterlings forging hammers have been used every day since 1917 and are still the preferred method to reach the best result. No afterwork is needed to correct mistakes or adjust the shape, and they proudly leave small hammer marks that prove these quality tools are hand forged. Wetterlings axes are free from paint and grinding, carefully hardened, sharpened by hand and polished until they shine. They turn their handles from American Hickory in their own wood workshop, too.
