They are made overseas. We give them a 1 year warranty, compared with 30 days from anyone else. So we stand behind their quality. In fact, with ductile rings, coated pistons, and the larger bore they are another class of cylinder assembly.

Still waiting on backorder for this, but I have numerous numbers found on different websites floating around for the CC displacement of this kit, I would like this clarified (it only displays bore size in description above). Will this kit be 82CC or 85CC's? When installed on a 6401 Makita, what would the approximate HP rating be? If the stock 7900 Dolmar/Kita is 6.3, what will this kit bump it to? Also, is it recommended to change the stock rim/sprocket on the 6401 when upgrading to this kit when pulling a 20" 30RC/72? If so, what #'s? Thanks!!

This kit will add approximately 6cc's to the stock 7900 displacement. By my calculations, it will be 84.69cc's. We don't make any power claims on our kits. A rim and drum isn't necessary. If installed on a 6400 would it negate a carburetor change? Or are they identical with the 7900? Would the 7900 require rejeting, or other adjustment: curious due to the fact I'm looking at both saws.

It bolts right on all the saws listed with no modifications necessary since they were all built on the same crankcase. The cylinder gasket is necessary if you are switching out the 6400 to accommodate the slightly longer stroke.

Although we have no direct experience we cannot see any reason it would not work. The original replacement is DM 394130013 if you are interested.

Seems like a lot of added power to the Makita DCS 6401. Can the smaller crankcase handle the added power? Of course, it has to be properly installed. The downloadable installation instructions look very helpful.

That is not an issue at all because this crankcase is used on 6 model of saws, including the 681 & 7900. Besides the great performance of the saw another advantage is so many models use this same crankcase so parts should be available for a long time.

I just received the big bore for this saw. In the cylinder package is a very thick gasket, it's about 3/16", thick with another gasket about a few thousands thick. What do I do with these sense no instructions came with the kit?

Greetings - Because this kit fits so many models we have included the gaskets needed depending on which make you have. The .5mm gasket is used on the Makita/Dolmar saws, while the 1.5mm version is used on the Solo saws which have a 1mm longer stroke.

Bailey's recommends professional installation by a qualified small engines mechanic. However we provide a PDF for basic installation instructions for on this big bore kit for the Dolmar 7900 online. We also recommend the thin gasket set for the big bore kit for this chainsaw.

Hi, I just received the Makita/Dolmar kit for my DCS6401. Do I discard the larger .059" gasket? Do you have torque specs for the cylinder bolts? and finally, what are the black and white plastic pieces for in the ring clamp set? thanks, Charlie S.

The thicker gasket is for the solo 681 only. The longer black piece is the piston stop for 4 stroke engines. The white one is the piston stop for 2 stroke engines.
