| Q. |
Can this grinder handle ripping chain? Is the side to side indexing error fixable? Or has the mfg fixed it? Phil
|
| A. |
Yes, this grinder can grind ripping chain. As for the indexing problem indicated in the comparison PDF we apologize that it doesn't explain fully how to adjust for this issue. If you look at photo # 6 on the PDF the adjuster just above the red circle is used to compensate to the correct depth.

| Q. |
Is the motor head grinding wheel assembly angle adjustable? I'm looking for an inexpensive grinder dedicated to grind rakers on harvester 404 x 063 chain. Please advise if this unit would work.
|
| A. |
Yes, this grinder would work for that purpose. We would recommend purchasing the 1/4 wheel, which comes squared, to grind the rakers: item 45512.

| Q. |
Do I need to change disc for different types of chain. I use .325" and 3/8" will the same disc work for both chains.
|
| A. |
The 1/4", Low Profile 3/8" (.365) & .325" pitch chain all use the 1/8" wheel. While the 3/8" & .404 chains use the 3/16" wheel.

| Q. |
Does the motor reverse for grinding both sides of the chain correctly?
|
| A. |
No, only the Silvey 510 machine has a reversible motor. However, the Speed Sharp Star grinder has self compensating pivot adjustment that gives a professional grind to any saw chain.

| Q. |
I am looking for an inexpensive grinder, I am an excavation contractor that uses a saw only a few days a month, I have a few MS 290's with .325 chains. Would you recommend this grinder or the Sharpboy (45350), or the Granberg (46012)?
|
| A. |
Both the Sharpboy and the Granberg have been around for many years and have proven track records. The Granberg can be used in the field. The 78004 grinder has been out about a year and has been a good machine to this point. It will grind more angles than the Sharpboy and grind cooler (larger wheel)

| Q. |
Hi all, I need to know if this grinder is capable of grinding square chisel chain, Oregon 75CLX type.
|
| A. |
If used this grinder would turn your square chisel into round chisel. There are no grinders that can do both square and round chisel chain. What we do offer is from Silvey. We have the Silvey Pro Sharp, Razursharp II and Swing Arm.

| Q. |
Wiil this grinder cut the drag link down on all size chain. Thanks Herb
|
| A. |
For today's regular saw chain, yes it will. A popular alternate method is to use the Filemate, item 15225, and use it with a flat file when the chain is on your grinder. The later is probably the quicker method for any grinder on the market.

This thing works great, I can sharpen a chain in 3 minutes. It has power and is very quiet. I had order the sharpener somewhere else but I thought I was buying an Oregon cause it had a picture of one. When I got it I was mad it wasn't but it has the same quality even tho I hate Chinese things. This is a great price and a great machine. You can save your saw and time with sharp chains. Dull chain = chainsaw works harder, chain smokes, clutch work over time. Sharp chains are the way to go and this tool keeps them sharp. Its much safer and faster then a hand file. It pays for itself in only about 8-14 sharpening.

I have a part time sharpening business, here in central Indiana. I probably sharpen between 150 to 200 chains in my season. I have found this sharpener satisfying for my needs. If you are in the market for a chain sharpener, this is a good one. It has an as opposed to a plastic body, an aluminum body. Bottom line: It is well worth the money, don't forget to set the top setting on "50" on the top dial. A final thought, buy it from Baileys their customer service is knowledgeable and helpful. Happy Sharpening!

I own a grading and hauling company. We cut a lot of trees year round This chain grinder works as good as you could want. I have owned mine for 2 years now and it has saved me more than I paid for it already. I would recommend it to any professional or home owner.
