Suggested chainsaw size for maximum power use of Capstan winch? Are their price breaks for multiple units ordered?

These Capstans work well with a 3.0 cu.in. to 3.5 cu.in. engine. We can always look at prices on quantity purchases, depending on the quantity and the items being purchased.

| Q. |
Does this winch come in different sizes. What CC is needed for each?
|
| A. |
We sell two Capstan winches, one does not come with a power head so it requires a chainsaw. For this item we recommend a minimum 50 CC powerhead (3.0 cu in), and a 57 CC powerhead (3.5 cu in) for the maximum pull of 2000 lbs. If you double line it will it hurt the winch? What is max it would be able to pull?

The stand alone winch can take larger rope and has 5000 capacity with a double line. Please see those items (search: Capstan) for m

| Q. |
What is the WLL of this rope? Can other rope types be used with this Capstan winch?
|
| A. |
The average breaking strength of the rope is 2900 lbs. Any 3/8" 3 strand rope can be used. Anything larger doesn't allow enough wraps around the drum for the proper fiction. Braided ropes don't work as well because they of the diminished friction coefficient; i.e., they are too slick.
