A must for all firewood cutters! The Mingo is a paint marker and measuring tape all in one. It quickly and accurately measures and marks logs for firewood cutting. Simply position the Mingo Marker at the beginning of the log or other surface to mark. While holding the easy-grip handle, roll the notched wheel down the length of the log. As you roll it, the Mingo clearly marks the log at precise 16" lengths with an easy to see paint mark. You can also expand the capability of your Mingo Marker with additional wheels that let you mark any surface in 6", 12", 14", 18" or 24" increments. Made in the USA.
NOTE: Comes complete with a 16" marking wheel. Paint not included - please see photos below for the type of paint can necessary for use with the Mingo (available at just about any hardware store).

Our apologies for the inconvenience. Due to the problems associated with shipping spray paint (there's numerous regulations due to the aerosol can) we've opted not to sell the paint. However, this type of marking paint is readily available in virtually every corner hardware store. We've included a photo of the "top" that is required for use with the Mingo. It is a "straight" nozzle, the type commonly used for marking by contractors, etc... (Hide full answer)
Can the mingo marker be adjusted to cut a 20 to 22" lenght? What is the price of hte marker itself?
A.
Currently we have additional wheels for 6", 12", 14", 18" & 24" only (16" comes with the machine). For the current price of the marker search item 265, or MINGO.
Why didn't I have such a fantastic tool years ago. I have been cutting firewood for 25 years and have used all kinds of methods to measure out my firewood lengths but this Mingo Firewood Marker is by far the best/easiest to use. My firewood lengths would vary in length quite a bit as the more tired my back got at the end of the day the longer my lengths would get to make a truck load. Almost makes getting firewood fun again with this tool. Better than sliced bread.
Why didn't somebody think of this years ago? I tried this out on a mess of firewood logs this afternoon. Made marking wood so much easier, I couldn't stop! GREAT TOOL!!!
Works like a champ on straight logs or large (10"+) relatively straight branches, not so well if you are reducing a bushy tree to firewood. Ideally suited for cutting tall straight conifers out west. Also helps you to ID your firewood if it gets stolen, just pick an oddball paint color.
This is as necessary of a tool for cutting wood as is a chainsaw. I can cut 2 cords a day by myself of fir and larch because of the time this saves measuring trees. A little practice on some junk wood and suddenly you become a measuring expert. It has worked so well for me that my dad strongly hinted what would make a great fathers day present for him. I wont bother cutting without it. Also the up-side down paint is easy to come by at any hardware store, and a can has lasted me a very long time. I'm glad the manufacture used a commercially available paint product.
After years of flipping the bar back and forth and still coming up with +/- 1-2 inch random lengths, the Mingo has "thrown off the shackles" on my marking speed and stacking accuracy (for tighter loads). I can mark 12-15 bucked logs at a time on a deck and get to cutting in minutes. Training time to become efficient was about 5 minutes. It has survived drops and tumbles drops without damage. This thing is to a firewood cutter what a fog nozzle is to a firefighter...truly a remarkable and simple invention that gets the job done faster, easier, AND safer!
Purchased this tool since my ricks where looking pretty bad with odd lengths. It defintely dressed them up nicely. Also, reduced the "Guess Work" out of measuring. Takes less time cutting up a tree in a heartbeat. Recommend everyone that cuts firewood get one of these. You won't be disappointed. Great to cut down a tree, delimb it, "Mingo" it, and cut it up, and finally loading the firewood. R/ J & T Firewood
