Deadfall by James LeMonds

Through the life stories of the author's grandfathers, father, and uncles, Deadfall documents the dramatic changes in the logging industry since the early 1900s. The book focuses on the influence of timber giant Weyerhaeuser in the Pacific Northwest, yet its themes resonate from Alaska to the American Southeast — wherever timber is king. The efforts of the people in this book are what make our country great. Paperback -6" x 9" 224 pages

About the Author
James LeMonds has lived most of his life in Castle Rock, Washington, a logging town in the shadow of Mount St. Helens. The son of a log truck driver, LeMonds first tasted the danger and grueling conditions of work in the woods during two summers spent as a choker setter--which quickly cured him of any desire to leave college for the life of a logger.
Author of South of Seattle, LeMonds has written for the Tacoma News-Tribune, The Oregonian, Seattle Weekly, and other regional publications. He holds a master's degree in education from Lewis and Clark College and teaches English at R. A. Long High School in Longview, Washington.
