Q.

This says it will file Stihl RS type chains. The filing angle for Stihl RS chains 0.325 pitch is 30 degrees. However, this unit has a 35 degree indicator on it. I am not sure what purpose this degree indicator serves as this unit does not have the angle lines on the guide - like a Stihl file guide does. You would have to use the angle guides on the cutter links with this file to maintain the correct angle so I am not sure why it is has the 35 degree marker stamped into the end of it. Or am I missing something here?

The 35 degrees would be more aggressive that what Stihl recommends. Filing angle is a personal preference for many, the most important task is that all angles are the same. If 35 degrees is too aggressive we could recommend the 15200 which allows you to choose any angle and files true.

When I need to replace the files in this tool, can I use normally available files from Oregon or other vendors; or does it requires files specifically from Pferd?
|
|
A.

The round file can be from anyone, but the depth gauge (raker) file is specific to this device.

This says it also works with 7/32" files. If so, why are there different part numbers for the 7/32" and 3/16" filing guides? I already have a 7/32" Pferd filing guide, can use that with a 3/16" file and get the same results as if I purchased the 3/16" file guide?

Greetings - It will take any size file and file the CUTTER of any chain. But if you want to file both cutter of something other than a 325 chain it will not work. In other words it can be used as a filing guide for any chain, but it is only a raker & cutter sharpener for the 325 pitch chain.
